What's News....
First, I am working on my new show, The Trap. I think it is funny and fun, I hope to produce it sometime after Christmas 2010. But I do not know where.
And I am making some new works for an exhibition. I must remember to post photos on this website.
I do not have much time with child-raising and all.
I have nothing else to say about art, so I will talk about something more fowl.
As you may or may not know, I really like chickens.
Chicken speak
in different languages:
Chinese:
gue-gue ou gou-gou
Danish: kykliky
Finnish: kukkokeikuu
French: cocorico
German: kikeriki
Greek: kikiriki
Hebrew: coucouricou
Gaelic: cuc-a-dudal-du
Italian: chicchirichi
Japanese: kou-kou-kou-kou
Dutch: kukeleku
Norwegian: kukkeliky
Polish: kukuryky
Portuguese: cocorococo
Romanian: cucurigu
Russian: kou-ka-re-kou
Serbo-Croatian: kukuriky
Spanish: quiquiriqui
Swedish: kuckeliku
But their problem is universal, and it must be stopped.
First some history.
My group was originally called The Egg Family and we wrote shows about dysfunctionalism and linked all forms of such back to various egg preparations. I also think the egg is a perfect form (hit or miss) and a perfect food. A (almost) daily miracle. I don't really live on a farm.
But I call here The Egg Farm, because one day I will live on a ranch, it will be Huevos Rancheros. I will have a front gate that looks like two beers capped. When the gates open the caps look like they ae coming off, and water shoots through, makeing an arch of water to drive under. In my old sports car convertable. Don't worry, the water will be high pressured and not a drop will fall inside the actual car.
Arri the Araucana Chicken (the one who made the blue eggs) died in January. I am not sure of what. But it was not the bird flu. That is old news but I will keep it.
Appi died now too. The victim of a dog tooth puncture in the lungs that triggered respiratory problems. The new member of the flock is Sinbad. Maduke (The Duke, but Jack couldn't pronounce the 'th' yet when we got her) is also dead, victim of Marek's disease, maybe, or I don't know what.
Only Blax and Sinbad remain but they are very robust and Blax is still laying eggs at age 5.
We must stop eating birds and the such. It is more than fowl play.
Eating chicken is not necessary for health or any other reason. The treatment of chickens for the foodstore is outrageous, I cannot believe with all of the 'awareness' people claim to have and all the tears shed over the mass destruction of living organisms through whatever the method, people continue to SUPPORT THIS MASS DESTRUCTION NOT TO MENTION HORRIBLE LIFE BEFORE THEIR DEATH de-beaking, cage so tight they never move, sit in their poop and produce, then be eliminated.. it makes me so upset that I will stop here. Anyway, you probably know this? Just because there are a lot of chickens, does it mean we should be cruel to them and not protect them, like an endangered species? They do feel the same pain as the DOO DOO.

The methods used to turn duck and goose livers into the "delicacy" known as pâté de foie gras are anything but delicate. Foie gras is a French term meaning "fatty liver" and it is produced by force-feeding birds.
The ducks and geese force-fed for foie gras are compelled to consume much more high-energy food—mostly corn—than they would eat voluntarily. This damages their liver and often kills them.
The Scientific Committee on Animal Health and Welfare for the European Union found many examples of abuse as a result of force-feeding, including:
· Birds are routinely confined to small cages or crowded pens.
· Birds are force-fed tremendous amounts of feed via a 12- to 16-inch plastic or metal tube, which is shoved down their throats and attached to a pressurized pump.
· The force-feeding may be performed twice daily for up to two weeks for ducks and three to four times daily, for up to 28 days for geese.
· Force-feeding causes the liver to increase in size about 6-10 times compared to the normal size for a bird.
· Increased liver size forces the abdomen to expand, which makes moving difficult and painful. An enlarged abdomen increases the risk of damage to the stretched tissue of the lower part of the esophagus.
· Force-feeding results in accumulated scar tissue in the esophagus.
· The liver can be easily damaged by even minor trauma.
In 1992, the HSUS sent a veterinarian to investigate a
Ducks and geese are social animals who suffer when confined in individual cages. The confinement also can lead to lesions of the sternum and bone fractures, as well as foot injuries from the cage floors. Ducks and geese also suffer when they're not allowed enough water to swim and preen, which they do naturally in the wild.
I hope after kids see Max Quacks, they won't want to eat (any parts of) duck, or any other bird. Of course the parents may dismiss their child's good instincts as mere whim, but kids are closer to the pure stage, still.
That is all. I hope we can eliminate all of the bad in the world someday. But since we never will, counterbalance can really help.
